Alexander J. Moore, aka Blag Sav, is a man with many inspirations to pull from. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1982, the year “Thriller” was released, Blaq Sav channels the same caliber of greatness into every endeavor he pursues.
Blaq Sav became well-acquainted with his creative mind at a young age. He began designing at 11 years old by drawing sneakers he wanted to wear. His mother nurtured that hobby by giving him anything he needed to hone his talent. That support expanded his interests throughout his teenage years into clothing, jewelry, accessories, and even furniture as he attended Mount Pleasant High School in Providence, RI.
After graduating, the next stages of Blaq Sav’s formative years looked like various complex webs of progress that weaved from one opportunity into the next. He spent time in the Marine Corp, accrued some credits at the University of Rhode Island, produced music, styled his own photoshoots as a model in New York City, worked with children at a group home in Rhode Island, and started his own custom jewelry business, Zenujlife, that attracted further work in Miami.
Then Blaq Sav was blessed with his first child. That journey sparked deeper reflection about what could impassion him enough to commit to perfecting for the rest of his life. He stumbled into an open mic comedy night with a prayer and walked on stage for an impromptu set. 4 years later, Blaq Sav is renowned as one of Rhode Island’s must-see comedians. He turned the Rhode Island Comedy Connection and the Hartford Funny Bone into his stomping grounds while opening for the likes of Smokey Suarez and many others.
He uses his own natural charisma to craft his comedy while also taking notes from the works of Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, and DC Young Fly. Blaq Sav sees every set as a moment to learn on a mission to become a well-rounded entertainer. Being an artist in many ways, he is also currently fine-tuning his acting abilities, learning to tattoo, strengthening his music skills, and running his own shop (all while being a father of 3).
Blaq Sav is determined to continue down this path as a comedian with intentions of networking with other ambitious creatives, achieving residencies at multiple venues, performing in other countries, and spreading his voice to those who may need it.
The end goal isn’t fame. It’s about leaving a creative legacy. It’s about using his comedic gravitas to better the world. It’s about being heard and Blag Sav has something to say
