New-England treasure Becky Bass is known for her “euphoric steel pan playing, soulful-angelic voice, and powerful stage presence. A native of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Bass utilizes her talent to highlight Caribbean music’s evolution through human necessity and resilience, and share the complex history of Caribbean music and its influence on the U.S.” Her father, Bill Bass, known as one of the best steel pannists in the US Virgin Islands, introduced his daughter to the steel pan at the early age of 2 years old. Becky’s love of music was solidified through 10 years of classical piano, voice training, and numerous performances in musical theatre starting at the young age of 10 and continuing throughout both her high school and college years. A 2013 graduate of Brown University, Becky is now a two-time New England Urban Music Award winner & RI Motif Award winner, and can be heard while performing her Caribbean Soul music solo, with her band as well as with several other bands all over the New England area, such as Zili Misik, Natural Element, and Sidy Maiga & Afrimanding. Becky’s musical journey has taken her to prestigious venues like the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and Lincoln Center in New York City. Her accolades include sharing the stage with Grammy and Emmy Award-winning artists like Joshua Bell, Yellowman, and Wyclef Jean, and being featured as the vocalist in a world premiere piece written for her voice by Daniel Bernard Roumain with the New Jersey Symphony under maestro Xian Zhang. Also, her collaboration with Rhode Island’s RPM Voices, a multi-generational gospel choir, under the direction of Frances Elayne Johnson, highlights her commitment to cross-cultural expression and community engagement. As a vocal director and conductor, Becky has led workshops and masterclasses for all ages, leaving an indelible mark on the next generation of musicians and actors.

With a diverse portfolio spanning theatre, television, and film, Becky’s versatility and artistry shine through in every project she undertakes. Having graced Off-Broadway productions like ‘Yermedea’ at LaMaMa Theatre and showcased her talents in regional favorites such as ‘Once on this Island’, ‘Hairspray’, ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ and ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, Becky demonstrates her ability to infuse storytelling with her soul-stirring, powerhouse vocals. Even through her appearances on camera, such as HBOMax’s ‘Julia’, Hulu’s ‘Space Oddity’ directed by Kyra Sedgwick, as well as several commercial spots with AAA, Geico, KFC, and Kohl’s, Becky Bass continues to captivate audiences with her unparalleled musicality and unwavering dedication to her craft.
