I’ll Save You a Place” is a narrative contemporary dance piece that combines dance with text and utilizes recognizable, everyday, movements and experiences to create a story that people can easily place themselves in. The work discusses the importance of community, support, and interpersonal relationships. It delves into the emotional process of leaning on others for support in times of struggle and the difficulty of letting oneself be vulnerable.

Abbey Lawrence (They/She) is currently pursuing a B.A. in Dance Performance and a B.A. in Theater from Rhode Island College (RIC) where she performs with the Rhode Island College Dance Company and has been able to set numerous works on its members. Most recently they have attended the School at Jacob’s Pillow as a member of the inaugural cohort of the “Dance Your Purpose” Winter Intensive, Bates Dance Festival, and participated in the 2026 CT Young Artists: “The Experiment” as both a choreographer and dancer. As an artist, Abbey is influenced primarily by identity, sociological concepts, and the natural world and how we as humans interact with it. Her backgrounds in visual arts, costume design, and lighting design play an important role in their perspective when creating dance pieces. They also pull extensively from their experience as a queer person in society and the experiences of queer, non-binary, and lesbian individuals throughout history. When creating work they strive to make people think deeply about themselves, their roles in society, and their relationships to the people around them.
