FringePVD Humanities Discussion: Fringe in the time of COVID

July 26, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

During the past sixteen months, artists and presenters have adapted the ways that they create and share work. Experimental programs designed for small audiences moved from the margins to the center of performance culture in Providence and beyond. Join us for a conversation about the roles played by “Fringe Artists” through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. In this discussion moderated by moderated by Dr. Micah Salkind (City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism), cultural programming curators/producers Christina Bevilacqua and Janaya Kizzie (Providence Public Library), performance studies scholar Avishek Ganguly (RISD) and multi-media performer and curator Shey Rivera Ríos will consider what “fringe” means today.
