The Providence Poetry Slam is back with our 2025 competitive poetry slam team! These incredible artists have been honing their poetic and performance skills all spring and summer, competing in regional tournaments and local slams. They have collaborated together to create poems that are dynamic, energetic and fun, as well as thoughtful and intense. Our team feature won’t be your typical poetry reading. Come out and see what our poets have created, and support local spoken word and art!

Providence Poetry Slam, lovingly known as ProvSlam, is a volunteer-run endeavor that serves as a community space to cherish transformative storytelling and performance. One of the oldest and most acclaimed poetry slam venues in the nation, ProvSlam hosts the longest-running open mic and poetry slam in Rhode Island. Over 30 years later, the ProvSlam stage continues to convene a diversity of voices committed to exposing silenced narratives, courageous engagement with language and truth, and supporting one another along the way. Held monthly on first and third Thursdays at AS220 in downtown Providence, ProvSlam currently offers multi-genre open mics, competitive poetry slams, feature performances by traveling artists, and community writing workshops.
