PVDFest 2019 is a free, four day festival in downtown Providence on June 6–June 9.
Each of these public artists has an existing public or studio arts presence in Providence and has surpassed a rigorous selection process led by members of the Art in City Life Commission, City staff, and PVDFest creative partner FirstWorks. This year’s Public Art at PVDFest Call mandated two rounds of competitive review. The Art in City Life Commission and ACT together designed the initial Request for Qualifications, to which over twenty public artists applied. Our Request for Proposals was subsequently distributed to eight finalists. Of the eight artists invited to submit design proposals, four artists, Kristina Brown, May Babcock, Sam White, and Nick Carter were then selected to produce temporary public art at PVDFest.
