Bhen Alan (Artist) in collaboration with Filipino-American Community Dancers from New Bedford/Dartmouth and Central Massachusetts.
The objective of the temporary public display is to critique the ever-shifting narratives, meaning, role, and validity of statues and monuments by wrapping and binding it with a traditional Filipino mat called “Banig.” This event also brings visibility to Filipino communities through dance performance, weaving workshop, public display of cultural objects, and community building. There will be art, dances, educational workshop, networking, music, and celebration honoring independence, freedom, and friendship.
