This event has already happened and was part of Ideas Fest 2021.

Launching in July 2021, Providence Waterways, produced by Doors Open RI, is a multimedia, collaborative, storytelling project. Through a combination of online and onsite experiences, Providence Waterways invites you to immerse yourself in place-based stories, sounds, and events that explore Providence’s water.

Three primary portals will guide our journey through Providence’s waterways:

StoryMap: History, short stories, images and fun facts – this interactive StoryMap is limited only by your own curiosity. Available in both English and Spanish.
SoundJourneys: Experience a digital, layered, participatory geolocative soundscape, featuring sound art, interviews, storytelling, bus tours, and more.
Live Events: Join us for a series of place-based, live events, including Tidal Resonance – an afternoon of immersive, place-specific, in-person, sound-based artistic experiences in India Point Park on Saturday, August 21, 2-5:30pm
Supported by: RI Council for the Humanities, Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, Providence Streets Coalition

Partner Organizations: Save the Bay RI, Narragansett Bay Commission, Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, Providence City Archives, RI Historical Society, Museum of Natural History and Planetarium
