Historically, monument-making has been a practice wielded by the wealthy, powerful, and privileged. My Living Monument(maker), an interactive installation by artist Becci Davis designed to tell the stories of six remarkable women from Rhode Island’s past. It subverts monument-making by using public spaces to practice active remembering.
