Deadlines quickly approaching for registration for performers and food vendors at Providence’s signature arts festival, June 6-9
PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, founding partner FirstWorks and the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism are calling on local and international talent to participate in this year’s PVDFest, Providence’s signature arts festival, happening June 6-9. For artists interested in performing or exhibiting food, deadlines are quickly approaching to register at PVDFest.com.
As this signature event enters its fifth year, PVDFest is known as an event where innovative public participation. Projects, artistic actions, and performances that spark imagination, encourage shared moments of revelry among festival-goers, and that create an element of surprise are strongly encouraged. Interactive art that exhibits intentional creativity and gives special thought to engaging audiences of all abilities and ages welcome.
Last year PVDFest welcomed 100,000 visitors over the 23 hours of programming made possible by 1000+ creatives who delighted audiences by performing, exhibiting, and selling their work in public spaces, parking lots, plazas, and parks throughout downtown Providence. In 2019, there will be even more opportunities than ever before to be part of the free, four-day celebration.
Perform:
From large cultural groups to solo artists, PVDFest is looking for performers who want to bring life to public spaces in their own unique way. Performances typically consist of thirty-minute sets and can be as traditional or spontaneous as the artist would like it to be. The submission deadline for performers is February 15.
Food:
Providence is renowned for its food scene and PVDFest provides a unique opportunity for local talents to share their culinary genius. All styles, cultural backgrounds, and presentations of food are welcome to be part of PVDFest. The submission deadline for vendors is February 1. Permits for peddler and mobile food service licenses, as well as Rhode Island Sales Tax must be submitted with applications for proper consideration.
Volunteer:
A festival this big requires many hands. PVDFest seeks people who want to get involved, understand the experience, and make it happen. Each volunteer will receive an exclusive PVDFest t-shirt and other complimentary gifts at the end of their shift. Registration for volunteer opportunities is ongoing.
