The “Public Caresser” is a performance art and social experiment that invites participants to be vulnerable. Dressed from head to toe in black with a white mask and gloves, the “Public Caresser” makes an emotional connection with any volunteer who approaches them; they caress and hug participants in a completely endearing and non-sexual manner. The feeling of shared public intimacy ripples through the audience; many people are transfixed, some are confused, but all are engaged.
